23 Things Project: Thing 4 Photo Sharing via Flickr

So Thing 4's assignment is to learn about photo sharing via Flickr or another photo sharing site. I chose Flickr because I use it to upload pictures to my Ravelry account of all my knitting projects. If you are a knitter or crocheter, check out Ravelry at http://www.ravelry.com/ and sign up for a free account. My screen name is iceprincess. Check out my project page to see what I've knitted.

I was browsing the Flickr website and came upon several unique gallery pictures of knitting that were part of an art exhibit. It was part of an exhibit at the National Institute of Health (though I don't know what city this museum is in). The picture was entitled Knit Circle II. Check it out at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/goshdarnknit/6093279456/ .  The picture made me feel like we were all connected in this big world by the threads that knit our lives together. Corny I know, but I was impressed by the exhibit photos. What can I say.

I wish I had discovered the power of Flickr for saving your photos before I lost all my photos from my smart phone's SIM card when something just wiped it out. They were all there one evening and gone by morning. All my captured memories of my family, our visit to Disneyworld, my cats...gone in an instant. Now I know, so it won't happen again!

Au revoir,
Debra Y.

23 Things Project:Thing 2 & 3 Blogging

Thing 2 and 3: Blogging

How do I feel about blogging? It is a mixed bag of feelings. On the one hand, I really like the idea of creating a journal to showcase my thoughts and feelings. On the other hand, I know me...I am not good at remembering to update my journals, whether they are in a bound journal with pretty paper and sparkly pens or paperless like this one or the one on my library website. Time and procrastination always gets the better of me. I pledge to try to update this blog in a timely manner. After all, I am creating these 23 Things posts for staff development credit from my school district.

I must say that creating a blog through Blogger was an easy process. I had fun tweaking it to fit my interests. I just need to figure out how to add a gadget to link to my Twitter accounts. I have also decided to create this blog to showcase all my interests, not just work related ones. I want to focus on my personal interests as well. The 23 Things Project gave me an opportunity to jump start a project that I have been mulling over for a while now.

To learn more about the 23 Things Projects, check out the link below to the 23 Things Project from Pasadena ISD.

Debra
